A tip that is quicker to do than write about.

First read this about what happens if the bonnet cable snaps or jumps out of position - http://www.projectpuma.com/viewtopic.php?p=343144#p343144

Likely to happen to you? Does it matter when the fix takes five minutes and would save you all that?

Loop a strong (black) cable tie around the metal lever part in front of the cable. Lay the cable tie on top of the bonnet cable rubber grommet, so it doesn't get trapped. Mine laid nicely flat on that, but you could loosely tape it to cable. Attach 2nd cable tie to end of 1st one and aim it towards bumper. Cut 2nd cable tie flush with bonnet edge. You're done.

To spring bonnet then either pull that tie with a pair of mole grips or attach another tie and pull. Either way, the bonnet will lift and you'll never be stuck with the work that JAC had there.

:)

* Image is reversed to yours as JAC drives a LHD version, as he comes from Spain.
