brakes and discs

anyone know the thickness of the alcons before they need to be replaced...also does anyone know where I can get an adaptor for 330 mm discs....I think this is the largest I can go with the 17 inch wheels but if anyone knows any different please let me know..I need to get the brakes on my car improved a bit, I just dont get any real bite and even though they work i have a split second of nothing that gives me a real fright, its wandering on sudden application too..not sure if thats me or the car yet...

I think 26mm is the minimum thickness for Alcon discs.
Why??
Are they going to break or is it to limit the outward travel of the pistons when your pads wear?

I think its to do with strength and warping....dont think its about piston travel but i may be wrong...chris will know the answer to this...
