Hi fellow Puma's
Anyone bought one of these and if so are they ok for the 1.7 engine.
I presume they are used to lock the camshafts when changing the cam belt?

Actually I have found several on ebay that look better than this one after a better search ...

Hi Stuart
Laser do a kit that help to position the crankshaft (pin) and the camshafts (plate) but contrary to the title on the second item they are NOT locking tools. The camshaft pulleys can be torqued up with a spanner on the spanner flats near to the pulleys (Don't leave the timing plate in as it's easy the break off the end of the camshafts) but to tighten the crankshaft pulley a special holding tool is needed as the torque required is massive. If you tried to use the crank timing pin to lock the crankshaft you would damage the pin, the crank or the block.

This is the full set of timing tools and crankshaft locking tools for doing the cambelt with the engine in situ as advised on Ford ETIS
