Hey all, i have a 1.4 puma, year is 99.

my clutch has started slipping in 3rd and 4th gear and i'm looking for recomendations.

is a transmech clutch bad? i seen this : http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Ford_Puma_1.4_1999/p/car-parts/car-transmission/clutch-and-associated-parts/clutch-kit/?641590621&1&ef99070bca89ea62ed3963bc37cbf6f3799bee2b&CLUK" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

is it really worth shelling out the extra cash for this one : http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Ford_Puma_1.4_1999/p/car-parts/car-transmission/clutch-and-associated-parts/clutch-kit/?637590620&1&35dd14e0752f434044504951aaa7528f1f51c159&CLUK" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

i'm pretty strapped for cash at the moment my puma has drained my pockets as it is :(

i only use the car for commuting and do a 1000 mile round trip every 2 months.

also looking to replace the slave at the same time and seen this : http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Ford_Puma_1.4_1999/p/car-parts/car-transmission/clutch-and-associated-parts/hydraulic-clutches/?645590021&1&9f235c4af58470c0670958f672635005565a1fee&CCSC" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

any advice greatly appriciated, thanks.

hello mate

transmech clutchs are really heavy i fitted one in my old 106 was horriable to drive i would def spend the extra money but if you are that strapped its a clutch! LUK clutchs are fantastic i fit them all the time never had a problem!

thanks for the fast response mate!

how are Sachs clutches, theres one for 80 quid that would maybe be the comprimise lol.

i dont want mypuma to drive bad i lovee it hah.

thanks again :)

sachs clutchs are good as well same as LUK i think sachs make fords clutchs?! i would go for the sachs if was my car :eek:k:

thanks a lot mate, i'm kinda torn between getting the £88 Sachs and the £59 pound one from ford, i think i may go with ford and just get the slave cylinder from there too.

from eurocarparts it works out £128 total but from fordpartsuk it works out £115 total.

what to do what to do, lol :)

Look at the garage list linked in my sig block, i'm sure there is a Glasgow based mobile clutch bloke there - Mr Clutch iirc
