Hi all, I recently bought a set of the Above rims, I refurbished them fully and when fitting them to the car I realised that on the front and rear they will not turn freely due to rubbing on the Shock / Strut. So the answer is this my Puma loving friends,
Hubcentric 20mm Spacers all round with M12x1.5 55mm long Studs :-D do all 4 corners and wallah! she looks sexy ;) if she was a she I definitely would :-D :D

Looks good, as you say, the offset is all wrong but spacing provides a way around the issue!

I have just spotted a flaw with my 20mm spacing ! Whilst on a hydraulic lift i noticed that on full lock the tyre touches the lower arm... oops... so i would reccomend 25mm - 30mm spacing now. The tyres also touch slightly on the wheel arch lining

The tyres themselves are to big. They are bigger than 195/50 R15 in diameter by 40 mm (20 mm in radius). Also, they go in for additional 37 mm comapring to the stock wheels. Puma uses 6J15 rims with offset of 34 mm, ST170 are IIRC 7.5J17 wth 52 mm offset.
You should scale down the tyres to 205/40R17 as on FRP and even then it is just in. The spacers, as you can see with additonal inset of 37 mm should be 35 mm at least, I guess

ST170 wheels are 17x7J ET49 which makes them sit 27.7mm closer to the strut than standard :eek:k:

Hi,
I have the same wheels but run 40 profile tyres with 30mm spacers I have no issues with tyres rubbing whatsoever.

Regards,
Richard.

i will fit st rims soon, but im wearing coilovers and i dunno if i will have rubbering issues

Hi

I run Focus ST 170 wheels with 205/40/17 tyres. I also run 30 mm HR hubcentric spacers front and rear, you will need these spacers with the ST wheels, the bearings only load up the equivalent of 16mm spacers. Over the past six years there has been no problems with the wheel bearings. I have also fitted the equivalent of the FRP springs. I have had no issues what so ever with this set up.
Focus ST wheels are genuine ford, they are reasonably cheap and they add a period look, if that's what you are after. Photos of the car are on my project thread. My Puma.

You will find this is the only set up that works. NO rubbing issues.

Regards
Richard
