Flexpipe/CC corrosion question

My puma ST is still under a 12 month retailer warranty but has a corroded flexpipe/cc which the retailer is disputing is covered under the warranty.
I have a 70 plate and have done 25000 miles.
Does anyone have any advice on how I deal with this? Is this a common problem? Is this extremely unusual for a car of this age/mileage?
