Red Ford Puma, 1998 (S -reg), 1.7 Zetec S engine

I bought this car in October last year as a runabout - and with a view to using it for road rallying / trackdays. However I have only got as far as using it to take my son to nursery occasionally - so have decided to sell it.

The car has clearly had an easy /well cared for life. The service history (which runs until a couple of years ago) shows that the mileage of 72800 is genuine, and in the last two years it has only covered about 800 miles. I've only done about 450 miles since I bought it - the biggest trip being the 60 mile drive home when I bought it. Starter motor was replaced in November 2014 as it packed it not long after I got it.

Paintwork is as would be expected for a car of this age, a few door marks and stone chips, etc. But the bodywork seems to be in very good structural condition - with none of the rust problems that a lot of Pumas suffer. Clearly the front bumper has taken a knock at some point (man I bought it from said it was a carpark bump from the first owner) - see pictures for a shot of where it doesn't fit quite right against the headlight.

It was MOT'd last week and passed - so it has MOT until 10th June 2016. There were a couple of advisories for a slight blow in the flexi-exhaust section and some light corrosion to the underside of one of the sills - I have left this as is so anyone viewing the car can see for themselves - it will be easily sorted with a wirebrush and some underseal.

The good news is that all the fancy features seem to work fine: Electric windows, power steering, CD player, heated front screen (which is EXCELLENT!), ABS.

On the occasion that I have been for a little spin in it - the gearchange feels like a brand new car - and the engine pulls great - it's nippy and fun to drive.

Test drives only if you can show me you have 3rd party cover for driving other cars / otherwise i'll take you for a spin in it.

I did a vehicle check on the car when I bought it - which shows no issues - although strangely it indicates the car is an import. No idea why - it looks to have been owned from new by someone in the UK according to the service history docs I have. Doesn't seem to have made any difference to insurance - it's only costing me a couple of hundred quid for fully comp.

With a little bit of effort - this could be a pristine early example of a car which is soon going to be considered a classic. Or, left as it is, it's a great fun car to drive - which looks perfectly good from a few feet away.

Collection only from Colchester, Essex -
Looking for close to £1k as I bought it for £1020 and have spent a couple of hundred quid on it since...

Currently listed on eBay - see here for photos: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Red-Ford-Puma-1-7-16v-VCT-Zetec-S-1998-S-reg-/191592822852?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2c9bd27844" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Car is still for sale - i'm still using it (infrequently) so the mileage is increasing (very slowly!) - and i'm willing to listen to offers if £1k is too high a price...
