Hi,

I done an opening post here many years ago when I got my last Puma, but it was fairly shortly lived and I sold it.

Had a hankering for getting one again ever since, and driving my Clio DCi has made me seek out to find one... which I did.

This is my new Puma. 2001, Medium Steel, 107k, Lux Pack. Lots of history over the past 2/3 years... belts, bearing, brakes, coil pack, etc. Super bonus is that the rear arches are fine! The door sills are less fine, but I'm going to work on that!

Bought for 550, only 10 miles or so from my home :)

So far I have...
Replaced the gearstick gaitor and handbrake gaitor
Changed to a standard aerial
Installed factory fit CD Player
Sorted a gubbed sidelight
Fixed door open warning
Replaced bulbs in heater panel
Air filter and Cabin filter
Good clean inside, was a bit dusty and white!
Replaced HCV
4x sparkplugs

Next on my list is...

Perhaps better condition steering wheel
6 CD Changer
Check and clean all fuses and relays
Strip and paint door sills
replace puma kick plates
Bulb in dash to show headlight are on needs replaces
Little plastic door screw covers needed
Little plastic triangle from the right hand side of the silver dashboard bit
Fix parcel shelf
Puma mats
Oil and filter change
Fuel filter change
Engine gasket, depending on if the sparks are swimming within a week or 2
Heater Control Panel

Sadly my replacing of the HCV did not solve the hot air only issue, so now looking like the Heater Control Panel as the speeds all work ok, just not cold :(

If anyone has any bits, please let me know... going for 100% standard :)

I'll be checking the parts for sale section to see if anyone has any of my many needs!

Nice to be here!

Craig

Hello,
Welcome to the forum. I see you listed fixing the door warning light. I have a problem with my door warning light staying on for at least the past two years. I have checked all the usual things. Just out of interest what was the remedy for your warning light.

Best of luck with your project.

Regards,
Richard.

Hi Richard,

I assumed it was the doors or boot lid, when in my case it was the wee button under the bonnet.

I'll get a picture later, but its a push switch right at the front of the engine bay.

Mine wasn't making contact with the bonnet, so I used something to help it connect when shut.

Hope that is where your fault lies too!

Here is a wee picture showing the bonnet closed detector, I guess you could keep it down with tape? Actually, surely it could be removed and the wires bridged to similar effect :)

Thanks for the hellos all!

Wee update from me!

Since my last post I have now done...

Heater Control Panel
Checked Air Conditioning
All tiny missing plastic interior bits
Sun Visors
Puma Mats
Cleaned the engine bay
Sorted a slight rattle with the exhaust, was one of the brackets.
Dust caps, as they were absent
Fixed parcel shelf

Thanks to Clemo and Guest63 for helping me with some parts, big and small!

The replacement Heater Control Panel fixed my hot only issue, thankfully!

Bonus was that my Air Conditioning works well, which I was not expecting on a 14 year old car! Think this one has been looked after :)

So far, so good!
