Hello, great forum you have here, I've been browsing it over the last couple of days.
So I'm Matt and I've recently bought myself a '97 Puma 1.7 for the daily commute to work. It's been running sweet so far, but it's overdue a service and requires a bit of work. The plan is to just maintain and service it, but I'll probably end up modifying it in some way, my last daily's become a stripped-out turbo sleeper

Here's how I picked it up:

So I've got a few things planned for it and I've got lots of questions so I'll get a project blog up later. But one thing that's bugging me now though is that I thought it had a heated windscreen, I have electric windows, electric mirrors, air conditioning, traction control, ABS, PAS, and a windscreen with the black edging(no idea if that means anything) but no button for it on the dash. Is there anyway to find out if I should have one or if one can be put in?

Thanks for looking.

(good colour btw  )

Hiya, re your windscreen you should have a button on your dash next to the rear heater button, also if you look closley at the screen you will be able to just see the wiggly silver wires running through it if its heated, they are very fine and quite close together not like the back one!
Just one question......what has the previous owner done to the alloys :(

Hi welcome to ProjP :eek:k:

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think the early pumas had heated windscreens

My R plates got one and its a godsend at this time of year :)

Thanks for the welcome :)
I don't see any of the silver wires in the windscreen, and looking at the fusebox there doesn't seem to be a fuse for one either. So I guess it's safe to say I don't have a heated windscreen, shame. I wonder if the loom for one is there? The rear window cleared ice the other day quicker than I've seen other cars clear frost, so a heated windscreen looks like a must have.

Yeah the alloys have been sprayed black by a previous owner. I like black wheels, but I'm not a fan of these, I am looking for another set for summer, I like the look of the Escort Cosworth alloys on the Puma. What does bother me is the louder backbox a previous owner fitted, which I'll replace for a stock one I think.

Here's my previous daily driver.

It's a turbocharged 998cc 16v Micra. 0-60mph currently in 8seconds, but lots left to do. Here it's lowered on redrilled 13x7 Capri Brooklands, but it drew too much attention so it's now on steels, also keeping the whole car under £999 so the wheels got sold to fund other parts.

I keep promising to myself that I'll keep the puma stock, but my fingers are itching
