That’s right. At the Sony E3 press conference today at the Shrine Auditorium, SCEA President & CEO Jack Tretton unveiled a jaw-dropping showpiece trailer of Gran Turismo 5 that disclosed the big news – GT5 is officially coming on November, 2, 2010.

As you can expect from any Gran Turismo game, GT5 will be bigger and better than ever, including everything from 950+ cars to a new and improved online component with expansive community features and custom race lobbies.

Please dear PS3 gods, let this date be set in stone now.

As a matter of interest, what controller works best with a PS3 for driving games? I have a PS2 and find that neither the hand controllers or a cheap wheel I bought really do much for the accuracy of the simulation, or control of the cars.

Rob i like the controller on anoluge with the sticks personlly.

Dal- If it comes out on that date i will eat my own weight in Ham, Pineapple, Steak and cheese Pizza with BBQ Sauce base

I find the standard PS3 controller fine especially now that they have the analogue shoulder 'triggers' (R2 and L2) which a lot of games now use for the throttle and brake. I used to only use the buttons for those as I never got on with the right nalogue stick for stop and go :)

I use the sticks for that?

Only cause when you set these games to full realism, you can't accelerate and brake can you, so by brakign and then accelerating tis more true to real driving?

ah but with the shoulder buttons you can effectively left foot brake if you want to which is closer to what a lot of racers do (if you want to be pedantic )

Hmm true enough, never thought of it that why.

I agree with Paul now

And i still stand by my comment of eating my weight in Pizza if it comes out then

I'm betting that the European release date is the 5th November.

The announcement was on the US Playstation blog, and the European one, with details of the special edition that will be released over here, is going up tomorrow. We don't often get games released on a Tuesday (which is also the US PSN update day), so we'll either get it on the Wednesday (our PSN update day) or more likely the friday after.

I could be wrong though, and they might be going for a global release.

Cant wait for this, that latest trailer looks immense!

And you need one of these to play the game properly, amazing bit of kit for the money: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-Driving-Force-GT-Steering/dp/B001IWR9JY" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

£90 blimey thats a chunk of cash.

It is a good wheel no doubt, but my personal preferance is for the sticks

i dont believe it not yet anyway lol they always do this then put it back at the final minute but if it does come out ill have to buy a PS3 just for this game haha

Im now a 50/50 convert it wil be launched as Asda, Game and lots of over major retailers are doin Pre Orders aren't they

The official Gran Turismo site has the release date as Nov 2010, whereas all previous dates were nothing more than rumours. So I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that is when it's going to be released.
