Hi hope you solved your problem, I can share my experience with the abs of the puma that I solved with many months of reserch.
For your problem you can start to check if the lights on the counter works directly.
And you can check the fuse, under the hood, there 3 fuse for ABS.
After if you have always the problem, you can buy an OBD to connect it on your car and check if there no defect log.
The last solution is to change the ABS module.
My problem was ABS light which stay, so I changed the ABS module and my problem was solved.
Before starting the car, the ABS light is ON for few second to show that ABS works.
If you change someting (ABS module, sensor ....) , they will stay ON for a few time to let the car apply the changes, after 1-2 minutes of driving if erething is OK the lights turn OFF.
Hope you understand with my bad english.
