this is really just an excuse for some juvenile knob jokes :)

i am replacing the gaiters on the gear stick and handbrake and i can't get my knob off!!

I have lubricated it and given it a good tug but it won't budge

does anyone have a secret trick or is it just wd40 and brute force to get it started so i can screw it off

thanks

Try a rubber..........belted oil filter wrench

A tug wont work, you know it unscrews anticlockwise, if you are struggling wear a pair of kitchen rubber gloves

First we have someone who started polishing knobs.....
...then we get someone caught washing their knob in the kitchen sink
...now we have someone whos knob is stuck so the gaiter won't slip over....

What is this forum coming to..??

You forgot about the knitted knob warmers ;-)

well i have tried a teatowel, a duster just bare hands but nothing seems to work

i had no problem with the missus's knob cos she wanted the leather richbrook one(couldn't handle the cold!)

looks like the belt wrench is gonna be my only solution

I have a knob in my drawer that will be sending for someone to polish :)

Or a load of elastic bands if you have any.

Or just slap it side to side until it comes off in your hand!

we have success!!!!

1/2 hour of letting the lube work (wd40) and i then gloved up and it came off in my hand

so it was the marigold that was the winner lol

Laughed so much at this thread that I nearly forgot to point out that my knob is a different shape and longer than most, oh and wooden
