Hi all - I recently bought a 1999 1.7 as a run about whilst I try to find a new bigger toy but I have to say I am amazed at how much fun to drive it is! It's only done 48k and in very good nick for the age of it. Sadly though on my drive home today the gear stick was stuck and thenvery difficult to shift between the gears. It came and went and even when in neutral the stick is difficult to move side to side. It then went back to normal, re-occurred and so on. On the drive at home it was ok if I was gentle but if you put a bit of oomph it stiffens up. 5th was impossible to get over to a couple of times. In essence it feels like the gates the stick moves about in as a guide (if this is how it works) Is moving in and out of position. Sorry for waffling but thought i'd give as much info as possible. Last but not least....help!
