Ok, so because we now have accsses to a cabin up in the mountians, we had to get a 4x4, so I got a facelift 2004 Land Rover Freelander TD4.

Now obwiously I couldnt just use it to drive to and from the cabin :) so I went offroading, and man, that's a lot of fun .

Obviously, it's a softroder, so it can't og everywhere, bit it's actualy quite capable.

In norway it's actualy ilegal to og offroad whitout spesial permision, but luckely I live just a few miles from an awsome offroad couese, and on desember 22 I put my hero cam on the roof, aand went for it :)

Some pics,

Please ignore my usless video editing skils, and enjoy 35 minutes of what a freelamder can do, at the hamds of a useless offroad drover :)

Looks good! I quite like offroading.. I had a little taster session in a Fiat Panda 4x4 when I went on my induction course at work and I was amazed at what the car could do. The scariest part was the near on vertical hill I drove up and down!

Is the freelander yours or did you hire it?

The freelander is mine :)

Yea, going upp a hill so steep you only see the sky is awsome, lol it's a real thrill not realy seeimg where you are going.

Had the pleasure pf goimgmout at night whit a guy in a seriously modefyed land crouiser last night, we got stuck on a hil so steep, we would have roled backwards end over end if he had let og of the break pedal, whilst i was out hocking upp the winsh:)

I've done quite a bit, first time I did it, I swear it was more scary than barrelling around a race track.

The whole sensation of extreme pitch and roll, like nothing you'd ever get on the road.

Freelander looks well there. I've got a 2005 3 door which I'm probably going to sell because I don't really love how it drives. Should probably take it on a forest run to fall back in love

I know just what you meen, it's a whole different experience..

I feel mine rides quite nicely, but the seat is to high, and they are killing my back on long jurneys :)

We get a free Experience course at work once a year I'm really looking forward to doing mine! Going to ask for a RR Sport to do it in though!

i'we done the land rover experience, the only center in norway, is just as few miles from where I live :)

it was awsome, but I have to tel you, ditch the New stuff, and go for the old defenders in stead. the New once are cool, because they just work. but it's just like driving on the road, and kind of booring. in the defender you realy get to feel how the car Works, and you have to get Your hands dirty and do everything yourselfe :)

chek out the Pictures from the day :) https://www.facebook.com/mrkongerod/media_set?set=a.10153192977780596.1073741829.873605595&type=3" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Unfortunately I don't fit too well in a Defender! Don't think they had tall people in 1948! :-D

lol :) I see Your point.. the freelander is slightly on the smalk side for me, but I manage, I'm 180. but it realy suitc my 160 wife :)

but whilst out driving earlyer today, I got a transmision fault light, and the abs, tc, and hdc light came on :( bugger..... Luckely the trans is atleast changing up and Down as it's suposed to. and a fault code Reader is in the mail :)

I used to do 4x4 instruction when I worked at the rally school.

Generally the limiting factor isn't the vehicle, it's the tyres and the driver.

I have seen top instructors (not me) successfully take a Jeep Cherokee on road tyres around a serious off-road course designed to challenge Defenders and the like.

There wouldn't be much that a well-driven Freeloader on proper tyres couldn't handle.

Thank you :=) I absolutly agree :) I have a friend hwo works at the only LR experience senter in norway, and he would agree whit you as well :) btw he is the guy you se popping out from time to time :)

I'm getting better tyers, as soon as I can aford them, only need to figure out my current issues whit my trany, and abs :(

Yes indeed it is Ian :)

I would say auto is defenetly a + when going offroad :) as well as running about town, because it is a little week down at the bottom...

Is yours a TD4 aswell?

Been out having funn again today :)

Link to next part at the end :)
