Oil pump

Guys, I think am having an oil pump failure, so far something from the bottom of the engine is making a noise (mechanical, sort of rotating), oil light keeps coming on during hard braking and today the engine temperature has been odd... took about half hour to get up to normal mark.
Also, engine feels reluctant to accelerate and sometimes, on de-acceleration it jerks a bit...

Is this a definite oil pump fail or can there be something else that am not aware about?

Yep, something I forgot about.... Piston rings gone.... Now gonna need to top up oil all the time till I get low comp pistons and some shiny titanium rings to fit around... :-D

worn rings will surely mean wear in the bore lining too.... may as well replace the bottom end..or get the coating drilled out and re-done...not cheap though either way.. :?

She's gonna go off road soon so I can gather all the bits I want for it... Which will mean that I'll need to get some cheap £200 run-about...
