Hi all,

My parcel shelf appears bleached from the sun and has some discolouring in places which I’m assuming maybe a common problem.

The interior colour is chrome/twill and I was thinking of simply spraying the parcel shelf with some automotive spray paint to make it one unified colour.

Is the parcel shelf supposed to be the same colour as the seats and/or the plastic boot surround and could I get away with spraying it a universal colour perhaps mat black or dark grey? If there is a spray paint already available that would match I would be much appreciate the code.

Would post a picture but can’t find a “How to” on the forum.

Cheers

I think it's supposed to be the same colour as the side plastics and tops of the rear seats. I don't think my is sun bleached so could get you a picture?

There were two different colour parcel shelves and one was more grey. Not sure about spraying it, if you do then really the colour should be your preference, I think matching it in would be good.

When you've made 2 posts you get the option to upload photos straight to a post (as well as send private messages, post without approval etc).

This is the guilty parcel shelf!

^^this, wow that really is weathered. I mean sure spraying it might help but then it might just be easier to get a replacement.

Wow holy crap what happened to that! If the shape is correct, I'd weigh up the price of a replacement versus cans of upholstery spray

I’ve ordered some specialist paint for £10.99 and will give it a shot. I had considered a replacement, what I’ve seen on line are around £40-£50.

Although the colour is faded the condition of it is very good and as such I thought it would be a gamble to purchase another shelf and risk it being damaged in the post.

I will give it a go & post some pics of the finished article. Unless it’s so bad I feel ashamed!!

Tried the paint that arrived today, pleased with the result on the basis it’s better than before!

The outside picture appears darker, presumably due to the light.

Hard to tell from photo what the finish came out like but it certainly looks better.

I have 2 grey parcel shelves both in good condition available. I'd be happy to do the 2 for £60 plus P&P. Am based in Suffolk but my husband works in Essex if collection is an option.
