Hi everyone,

I have a 51 plate 1.6 Puma with 80k miles on the clock. Had it for year and has been great.

I have a few problems ( where have you heard that before )

1. Recently I seem to be having some odd idling issues. If I start the car and just leave it running you will see the idle fluctuate between say 800 and a 1000 revs, not exactly racing I know but sounds quite odd. Even after driving for a while the idling does wander around and the engine sounds a bit rough

2.Do these cars take a long time for the heater to work ?.. My car does not get warm for at least 15 minutes driving and even then it does not really get warm

I am based in Cheshire and any advice/help would be great

P.S. This the second puma I have owned, the first one was over 15 years ago !

The rough idle can be quite a few different things, if you fish about on the forums you will probably find some suggestions.
We have a 1.6 and after driving a mile or two the heater is nice and hot.
If the temperature gauge is showing normal and the heaters are cool then you need to replace the heater control valve. If the gauge does not move to the middle of the dial then the thermostat is probably stuck open.
