Tiny video of the Puma engine and exhaust note up to 6k in 1st gear and into 2nd. Fitted with a 4-2-1 manifold and piper exhaust. Splutter Splutter.

Can't get enough of the sound, it encourages me to drive fast and drink fuel

Bought it all second hand and full fitted by Ollie at OC Motorsport. £450 all in for the lot.

eBay bargain oh yes

Saving up for ITB's, cams and an aftermarket ECU. Very conersvative estimate of 170 bhp after the mods have been done. If I can get it mapped really well it'll probably be just shy of 200 bhp.

How much did u gained with the mods so far? Did u take it to the dyno? Im curious how much power the 1.7 has left after 15 years and 140k miles (my case)

1999 Puma 75k miles for me. 2 older female owners previously. I think this is the first time it's been given a hard time in it's life. Friend of mine got same exhaust as mine minus the manifold and got 135 bhp on dyno without a remap. I've yet to remap mine and won't bother until I've got the thorttle bodies and cams installed.

Voice of scepticism here - not all dynos are trustworthy :p I want to believe you though, my exhaust is falling to bits at the rear and I'm looking for an excuse to, uh... upgrade. And what a lovely sound!

Hard to tell from the video, but is it tangibly louder than the stock exhaust, or is it primarily just different in tone? Are you driving around having fun winding up the neighbours or can it still be discreet on the streets? :)

Oh you can be discrete with the exhaust. It's louder yes but not offensively so. I often switch off the stereo and drive with the window down because I enjoy the exhaust note so much.

Much deeper note at lower revs and when you push it hard it really screams. Second half of the 0-60 vid was with the windows down.
