Hi

i only got 1 key with my puma, a 3 button remote type. As i've got no spare at all i'm def gonna have to buy another pretty sharpish.

Now i understand that you need to have to keys that are already programmed to your car before you can program another key. SDo that basically means i've gotta go to Ford or find somebody else tha thas the right gear for programming.

I don't really wanna fork out for a brand new key as i'm happy to buy a 2nd hand key off of ebay. So my question is, is it possible to program a key to my car that's come from another car?

I'll also be buying a blank blade so i can get that cut

thanks

You need 2 working keys that start your car to programme a third that will also start the car. Only Ford or selected specialists can do it.
(With good reason or else thieves lives would be very easy if everyone had it)

See this post:

Doesn't stop you having a 2nd key cut that will unlock your doors should you lock your one and only key in the car somehow.

That's what i said!! :D although i have just noticed that i'd typed "to keys that are already programmed to your car" instead of "2 keys that are already programmed to your car"

I've just phoned Polar Ford in Barnsley, for them to supply a new remote fob, new blade & for them to program the new fob & cut the new blade it was £150

They said they charge an hours labour to program a key!! £70+vat!! rifuckindiculous!!

I'm just gonna buy a 2nd hand fob off of ebay, a blank blade & then try to find somebody with ECU diagnostic gear that does key programming also!!

Ok, I'll give it my shortened answer rather than my normal comprehensive one.

No.

Better?

:p

hi, just had a brand new 3 button key cut and prog by ford for 87 quid a new battery, and a 1, 3 button blank key done as well which i got off e-bay all for £115 all in i think that very good for main dealer.
could have got the e bay key cut+prog for 45 or a compleate key for 95 off a key specialist,
