Can anyone suggest the best size spacer to put on the back? Standard drums, standard suspension and 9 spokes. I would like the wheels to be more in line with the outer arch.

Are there any draw backs to doing this?

Thanks

What year is your car if its an early one it may have 10mm spacers each side already as earlier cars had narrower axles.

So worth checking so as you know what your starting point will be.

FRP's had 20mm axle spacers as standard and FRP press cars had 30mm axle spacers.

You will need 10.9 tensile axle bolts which come with spacers as new and you may have some difficulty fitting the abs sensor or at least the passenger rear one iirc. If you went to 30mm each side you may need a rear abs sensor loom from a different car escort estate iirc.

It shouldnt be a problem but axle spacers will put moreleverage . load on the bolts. Someone commented the 30mm ones could break but its an old comment and I never heard of it happeneong.

Theres solid billet and cast types to choose from and the cast ones fitted originally can fall apart when removed.

Bloody hell quest. I just thought it would have been a case of picking a size and bolts and throwing them on. Lol

I have an april 2000 (W reg) model.

It will be the wider one then unless someones retro fitted an earlier one for some reason. I bought the billet ones expensive but unlikely to fall apart like this, but 20mm not the 30mm

If you can provide me with some sketches / measurements I can easily put in through some calculations for you. Better be safe than sorry!
