squeaky tailgate

Hi, in the last couple of days my tailgate has started to squeak as I go along, is there an easy fix for this, I seem to remember an escort I used to have did the same thing.

Hi mate my puma did exactly the same thing its a very simple fix if you open your boot and look at the edge where the boot rests on the back of the car you should see 2 little semi clear pieces of rubber sitckers about an inch long on both the left and right pressure points all that has probabily happened is one has moved slightly or fallen off which is causing metal to rub on metal as you go over bumps on the road ot one has moved slightly just move it back but if its fallen off any sort of simmilar works as a fix such as several layers of sellotape cut to size hope that helps

Just a quick update, I checked these pads which seemed to be in the right place, but I managed to solve all the sueaks over the weekend by simply greasing the latch and hinges and also the seat pins and door latches while I was at it, this has eliminated al the sqeuaks now. By giving the car a deep clean when I got it I washed all the old grease off. so hope this helps anybody else with squeaky tailgates!
