just joined this site as im having no look in finding out how to fix a problem I have with my v-reg 1.7 puma.

Randomly when driving the throttle sticks on causing the car to sit between 2-3 revs on the clock which when you come to a stand still will very slowly come back down to norm.

Any ideas????? (is this the throttle body?)

and more importantly, is this expensive to fix!

Any feed back will be gratefully appreciated, cause driving the car is really starting to get on my nerves now!

From my own experiences with various Fords, this symptom can be tracked down to a "dirty" ICV (Idle Control Valve) which is easily removed (5 mins) and cleaned with carb cleaner, or at a push WD40 would do.

It is worthwhile doing this, especially given the age of your car.

The Idle Control Valve is circled below:
(Just to the right of the inlet manifold at the front of the engine)

Easy to take off and on using a spanner or socket. 10mm bolt head I think.

It could also be the Throttle Position Sensor as well arrowed below:

Welcome to ProjectPuma anyway JUST-JO - let us know how you get on..

I can see how that would be an irritating issue, what have you tried so far to resolve it?

The above ideas are where I would start too, then possibly sticky throttle cable?

Thanks Pumaka, Dal & Red

Advise is gratefully appreciated.

Have just shown my worse half what you recommend so I know what he's going to be doing this weekend - hahahahaha!

I will let you know how I get on!
