Hi all

I will be replacing both front legs on our Puma in the next couple of weeks, probably with Monroe shocks, or maybe Sachs..

however...when it comes to the bearings/mounts I'm not sure which ones to go for, can anyone offer up a recommendation please :grin:

PS - don't need drop links I've already changed these for Delphi's

thanks all!

Steve

Thanks, they come in at over £40 though, and don't include the bearings....are none of the pattern parts of an equally good quality?

Yes Ive had these fitted to two pumas and just waiting to fit to a third puma. They are perfectly fine, strong and sturdy.

they look very cheap quality compared to the ford ones.. :?

Is that where Puma ownership is now?...people don't even want to buy the proper top mounts anymore.. :?

What do people buy once ford has stopped manufacturing these parts....?

I hope the OP doesn't try and buy the front top mounts that you suggested Mac as there were only 3 left and I just bought 2

If you don't want to pay Ford prices, and are concerned about the "quality" of cheaper ones, consider purchasing Febi Bilstein (Based in Germany).
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Top-Suspension-Strut-Mount-Repair-Kit-Ford-12453-/400499385297?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3AFord%7CModel%3APuma&hash=item5d3f9fa3d1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I have their front and rear wheel bearings and wishbone ball-joints fitted, without any problems.
Febi Bilstein produce a wide range of parts for the Puma:

Cheers guys this is just the kind of input I was hoping for, Rick you nailed it, Ford prices are far too high but there's some right crap out there and I always look to buy the best I can.

el dude, I hear your frustration but no that's not where I'm at, being a Cougar owner I'm used to getting my wallet reamed when it comes.to part prices so it never hurts to ask the experts as it were!

Thanks all, much appreciated.

EDIT: I note that lusid and scotsman's links seem to be the same part?

You realise that these parts are all made in the same factories.... by the same machines...

That's interesting.
Can you post your proof of this on here and also show that the rubber used is the same quality and shore hardness on them all. This will help prevent an "Urban Myth" starting.

Proof.. well what I can do is give you a list of the factories in which these and other items are constructed in for Ford, but not to mention just ford... pretty much the majority of Vehicle makes in the UK today.
Been through this before with wishbones and came across the same place that make the rubber bushes..
As for shore hardness since you mention it, maybe you would be so kind as to show the standard for the genuine ford parts rubber used, perhaps even a chart plot for everybody to see that the shore hardness scale on every single item of 'genuine ford parts top mounts' all have the exact same spring force in each product.
And i'll try and get one for one of these 'non genuine parts'.

Um....if I could ask one final question please :lol:

Do any old Mk4 Fiesta protection kits fit or do I need to look for anything specific?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html/?_nkw=fiesta%20mk4%20protection%20kit" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks!

The best answer I can give, Is that i'm not entirely sure, simply because I haven't personally used any of these, But I can't see why not as they use the same suspension. I would guess that they are the same, but simply due to not having used them before, I can't say for sure.
