VSS vehicle speed sensor fault
Hi all, I believe the vss on the Frp is knackered as no speedo or mileage counter. Went to Ford and they quoted £150 just for the sensor. Is this sensor used on other models for example the focus?

Re: VSS vehicle speed sensor fault
No, the sensor on a focus is a variable reluctor. The only car with the speedo transducer the same as the puma is the mk5 fiesta and possibly KA. At a guess id also say if there was a mk5 1.6 digi dash escort it should fit. First check the 3 pin plug that connects the transducer to the loom, it may have just come out. If all is well and the unit itself is goosed, speak to Ian G off here and he will send you a known working good part to replace it with. Im pretty confident he can beat £150

Its fitted to a few different things, digi odo Escort being one.

Re: VSS vehicle speed sensor fault
Thanks for your replies lads, actually got one from ebay last week for £16 (not quite as cheap as Ians sold for) but still a bargain. Just been out and fitted and taken for a test drive all good again but unfortunately now the 150 miles to the big 100k again
Can't believe how simple it was to change. No jacking or crawling under car jobbies. Just poked hands through the engine bay, unclipped the connector end and then unscrewed the sensor end from the box. (The plastic needle had snapped in the sensor) replaced with new/spare. Test drive and speedo and mileometer all working again
