Just had a thought - the correct pads were ordered but am wondering if the pads actually delivered were for cars with the earlier smaller discs and so fit but are actually too small. I did not do a side by side comparison before throwing the old pads away but they seemed to fit the callipers...

I had all sorts of strange things happening with the hot / cold - it had a mind of its own and would vary without me changing anything. I tried two ebay HCV and neither worked properly -A Genuine Ford HCV worked without issues and all problems solved.

My A/C was not working - got one of those Halfords self filling cylinders and gauge - really easy to use - found the pressure had dropped over the years - one cylinder was more than enough to recharge - worked great - nice and cool now.

Thanks for the thoughts - think I will try a new ford HCV I did a 250 mile motorway drive yesterday with the wires off the valve completely - boy was it hot - but it stayed hot - no changing - which points to the HCV or controller and not the the thermostat. nick

Found it - the wire and bulb holder had fallen down behind the boot liner trim - I also saw where it fits now under the plastic bit. no bulb of course - get one tomorrow thanks :grin:
