Curious if anyone has fitted gas struts to the bonnet rather than the manual lifter?

I'm going to nip out and have a gander at the underside of the bonnet in a minute, can't see it being too hard a job though.

EDIT: Zara - Did you get round to doing this previously or not?

Just don't be cheap and use boot struts, they're exceptionally strong, and I've heard horror stories of people bending their bonnets in half!
 
the bonnet was too light for the struts I found; it would eventually bend - you may be best off with the lifters tbh
 
you can get 'lifters' which attach at ach side of the bonnet, I know Vauxhall Vectras had them, quite subtle aswell (it was the older Vectra, not sure if the new ones have them)
