I have been getting a buzzing kind of sound from what sounds like my off side front wheel area, under acceleration. It stops if I press the clutch. I have had the wheel off and a looksy, but cannot see anything wrong. It mostly does it (from what I can hear) at low speed and acceleration up hill.
It does not seem to affect braking/handling but I have a big journey coming up and I would like to be sure its nothing bad, so before I go to the garage I thought I would ask on here to see if anyone has any ideas, or have experienced similar..

Hmmm, difficult without a more direct inspection.
A buzz could come from a starting to wear wheel bearing. It could be the CV Joint, has it split and lost all its grease?
It could be something as simple as the arch liner rubbing...
It could also be a loosening bolt, maybe around the front of the wishbone.

Just make sure everythings tight enough before the long trip... and make sure you have the AA just incase.

Tis difficult, but I was hoping someone might of had similar.. I shall whip the wheel off again and have another nosey, n check the bearings.
Thanks for your thoughts :0)

When you say buzzing... its not like a paper in a fan sort of noise is it? And does it only happen at about 1300rpm?

I suppose it does sound a bit like a paper in a fan kind of thing, but it happens as I am accelerating and not just at a certain revs. What are you thinking..?

I have had the wheel off again this morning and still cannot find anything amiss.

I don't want to alarm you.. But I had a similar noise on mine which turned out to be a cambelt problem. Mine also made the noise when I revved the engine when the car was stationary.

Time to take it to the garage I think.

I am hoping its not much of a problem. I had an Isuzu trooper once and took that to a garage cos I had this rattle that started at about 70 mph. It really sounded like it was coming from the engine bay area, but it turned out to be a bungee strap I kept on the roofrack, it bounced about at speed lol..

sorry to hijack but sparx i'm having the same problem and it sounds like its from the cambelt area... does it only do it when you rev it? because thats what mine is doing... i've been fannying around with numerous manifolds as it sounded like a leak

Well hopefully this will be just as simple lol. I'd say its better to be safe than sorry.
I've had multiple cambelt problems with my puma in the past and were all down to faulty tensioners etc, even after i'd had the kit replaced. On one occasion the engine lost compression, the belt slipped and the pistons went straight through the head and busted 8 i think out of the 16 valves. Luckily the cambelt kit was under warranty so they repaired it all for me and the bill should have come to at least a couple of thousand... So it's definitely something i'd get checked out.

Yea, only when revving, like I said before it was usually about 1300rpm, regardless of travel speed/gear. It never happened whilst idling.
