Iv never understood why you can't just mark your own timing points
You can, but not in a way as to be read accurately as the marks have to refer to the shaft diameters not the pulleys.
Much easier to use the corect shaped pin, placed in the hole provided.
Got my pin and bar for @£20, there is a drawing in the Haynes manual if you really want to make one.

Hey JonB,

Do you have a copy of the picture in the Haynes manual?

I have a pin on the way down, but it would be great to have a picture to go on if that is possible.

Cheers

Hi all,

Sorry but I seem to have missed out some details so the moderator blocked me -

1: Description : The more details the better; think what you would want
to know if you were buying.

1.7 Puma with current MoT 87k miles Asking £300 as spare or repair but open to offers in that region. Cam belt failure but good car if you can fit it yourself - see ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200800973820" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;? ... 836wt_1270

Engines available for £175 e.g - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/320950767309" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;? ... _719wt_931

2: Price : It is not sufficient to ask for offers, you must have an
idea of what you would accept, so say so! Also, P&P costs if appropriate.

looking for £300 as alloys, lights etc would make more!

3: Location : Essential if your items are for collection only, but even
so, some people may want to collect if they're local.

Near Malvern in Worcestershire for collection only (you will need a trailed etc as car is not driveable)

4: Preferred contact details : This speaks for itself, especially if
you're not on the forum regularly.

Contact via pm, ebay message or email - [email protected]

This has been a great car and we will be sorry to see her go as she has been very reliable and fun to own, but family has out grown the space. good project to someone in the know but I haven't got the time. Well worth a look....

Thanks

Ok, an update!

We haven't had many hours free to continue work recently but today we finally got the crank bolt out! It was incredibly stiff and took a 17 stone man pushing with all of his strength with a 2 foot cheater bar to crack it, whilst another was in the drivers seat stamping on the foot brake with the transmission in gear.
I decided to video it, just for the heck of it as we had been trying for at least 2 hours to get it off.
So here is the vid!

The next, and last alternative would have been to use the starter motor on ignition with coil pack disconnected and to rest the cheater bar either on the floor or on one of the other pulleys, thankfully we didn't have to try that!
