Here is one for you all, had my car scanned... along with a host of other issues i have to sort out with botches from the previous owner :-( the scanner couldn't communicate with the ABS...

now before i go blindly removing/replacing bits where should i start to look for a fault (by the way the ABS light is on but i have no traction control light come on at all (bulb is present))

can anyone help me on where to start looking?? I am a complete noob with this so pics and if possible an ABS map would be fantastic...

Please help me like i say this is one of many faults but this one has no starting point :-(

Thought the garage would have check that lol but a good place to start i guess, i dont know anything about the abs system apart form what i read on here so any advice is helpful :eek:k:

Well it looks like this and its located below the servo on the passenger side inner wing.

The plug has a sliding saddle, you pull the saddle up and the plug will dislocate.

You can see it without removing anything although access is improved if you take the battery and box out.

Even if it appears connected, I'd be unplugging, spraying with a bit of contact cleaner and re-seating it.

Might be the CPU in ABS module has gone south (it is known it happens to ATE modules; puma is using ATE brake system). Don't know how it is in UK, but here we have guys specialised in dealing with car electronics and they can, and in fact they DO repair everything including the ATE ABS systems. They just swap the CPU and off you go, as good as new!

But since the prices in UK are next to nothing, you are probably better to just have it changed instead of getting it repaired

Thanks for the help guys, when i get a chance i will have a good investigate... just trying to understand the system as best as i can before i start...

This is the next job on my list after i have sorted the exhaust system

I had a quick look the other day and it looked connected but i didn't have tome to take anything off to access it to check...
if anyone has any other ideas for what the problem could be please post them here as it will be my list of things to check...
