The time has come to replace the 6 CD changer (6006) in the FRP as it's decided to not pick up any radio stations or my ipod in the car since travelling back from York on Easter Sunday...

I haven't had it out yet to check the aerial connection at the back but I feel the time has come to get down with the kids and replace the stereo as it's starting to do my head in with the CD's etc.. (as we all know these are as good as chocolate fire guards)

I don't wan't to spend a great deal of money as it's not a priority for me (£150 max, potentially £200 at the very most)

I must be able to connect my ipod, whether this is direct or by FM transmittor (ideally the first)
Must also be blue lit or have the option for blue lighting as i'd like to keep the blue LED lighting matched up on the dash :)
CD player

all suugestions would be grateful as I know bugger all on this kind of shit

cheers in advance :)

Can you not get an adapter to run the iPod with the CD changer function in a normal 6000CD?

I had one with a separate iPod dock that attached to behind the heater panel. It was good, although every passenger I ever carried bashed their knee into it getting in the car.

Yeah just thinking that radio has controls for it, looks fairly OEM etc. The single CD is more reliable than the changer one as well.

Shame there isn't a direct replacement for that slot.

I've been looking at these

I would go with an alpine head unit, something like this: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_869163_categoryId_165474_langId_-1?cm_sp=Intelligent_Offer-_-Product_Details_Zone_1-_-Blank&iozone=PDPz1#tab2" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Have you changed any of your other ice components or are you running with standard speaker etc?

speakers are standard I think, personally I don't waste my time or money on speakers and ice components etc

as long as it plays my ipod it'l do

The front speakers are slightly upgraded from the OEM ones.

If Zara replaces her stereo, then she'll have a proper finger tip control kit going spare...

The looms have already been cut to install this! :|

Hi Zara,

take a look at the Sony MEX-BT2900 In-Car Bluetooth CD Radio Cat code: 264510-0 on the halfords site. Its special offer, at a saving of £150 it was £250 and is now 99. I think its blue facia lit according to the pictures! (I think thats ya main thing lol)

Gary

you would need to order the facia adapter, but its only 7.99

Make sure you get an adaptor plate like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Puma-Fascia-Facia-Panel-Adapter-Plate-FP-07-00S-/250414539034?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a4ddea11a" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

im afraid i wouldnt touch this with a barge pole, cheap stereos like these dont last long and sound very below par

quite tempted by the Alpine tbh :) I know these are supposed to be good as have a few mates with them
