Has anyone had to drill out a sheared tow hook and have hints for me??

I have been searching for reverse 'easyouts' but Halford's don't seem to have them and i need it out by Friday!!

Plus its a reverse thread so easy out probably won't do it unless you get a very specialist one. Is that what the text was about :) I'm not working but its rare I'm not on the internet

Yep lol

I am now going to look for a reverse drill bit instead of easyout! searching the internet brings up the results sometimes. Have ordered all my other parts, looking forward to my gold plated superfast engine! Driving a battered Micra is just is not street cred!

something I saw on tv a few years ago might help, if you have access to a welder, find a nut about the same diameter as the part you need to remove and puddle weld the center of the nut to that part, you can then use a spanner or socket to turn out the broken part.

used this technique a few times and its never let me down

good luck :)

thanks for the advice offered....

i suddenly realised that reverse drill was not the way to go with the drill as its a reverse thread lol

so bought brand new drill bits, 3 mm to create a guide hole then a 6.6 mm. I tried knocking in a alen key, it wouldnt turn, then tried a screw driver, hammered it in and it turned easy!! Thanks probably to the WD40 I sprayed on a few days ago!

Not to borrow Zaras tow hook and my beloved seized Puma can go for its transplant on Friday!

I just got some titanium drill bits for my wheel studs and stuck a big flat head screw driver in the indent I'd made and chased it out. A ballache, but it works.
