When saw that it was a Daily Mail link, I raised an eyebrow.
The piece only mentions the EU proposals being looked at (as with all EU proposals) once.
But it mentions UKIP twice and has multiple quotes from people who are "up in arms"

Germany has had its Type Approval rules for ages and they have been pushing them in Brussels for a while. For a few reasons, I doubt we'll all be looking for OE tyres etc at MOT time.

As for the story. It's just rabble rousing propaganda, from a predicable source. (mountain/molehill)
Scary headline though...
 
Hi Guys
No it's a real threat this, I've already heard it through kit car sources. If it gets through you can bet IVA (individual vehicle assessment ) will go along with our kit car industry. No more Westfield, Caterham, Ultima, Dax etc, etc.

I make it a rule not to comment on news stories that are almost 4 years old especially when, unsurprisingly, the sky didn't fall in, as predicted.
