well just thought i would post our first day out on the track.
Bought a puma from what a lot of people said will make a good track day car, so went halves (cutting the costs) with my partners brother in law.

but after me having a good 8 laps keeping civic type r's at bay  we swopped drivers and this was the out come :-(

hence needing a new back beam/axle and placing a wanted add on here, as ebay is full of nutters that want major money.

work is on going and the axle is all loose and ready to come off, the only thing stopping it is the deadly abs sensors, that are playing the fool by being stuck.....am working on them though.

any advice well much appreciated.

updated this post after learning all new things, ie photobucket.

I'm intrigued now what the photo looks like..

yeah should have read the guide first. new to forums and posting pics, thought it was a case of copy and paste. clearly not. i am working on it, but time is also taken up with work, kids, an ever nagging Mrs and trying to get parts and the little green cat back out there. so by the time i get on the interweb i am just ready to give up. but i want to keep the post as active as i can to show what's happening. will find time....watch this space.

Mk5 fiesta rear axles will fit as well, will give you a wider choice of donors.

Shame mate. Glad you enjoyed your first 8 laps though!
Perhaps also worth investing in some tuition for your track day partner! lol (assuming he crashed it that is... As we haven't seen the pics yet!)

i have updated my first post with the pics...I am learning, sorry for the delay. i have got an axle delivered to house and just need to swop things over, it's finding the time. But will get there, and scott134 tuition is not the word that i used but yeah have said it might be an idea to just calm down

lol, tuition not the word lol...live and learn, not a proper tracker until you've had an off or a spin. Means your not trying hard enough to push your limits.

However, that said, its not written the car off and a weekends worth of work will have her track ready again. Thats a bit of the risk you take with tracking your car.

Our view point is as long as I dont break the expensive bits like coilovers and manifolds, it doesnt really matter, these cars are cheap enough to buy another and swap all the bits over. sometimes its cheaper to buy a scrapper for £150 and have a spare.

At least you had some fun and know what to expect next time.

yeah fully agree with that noobrider... it was bought on the pretense that if it we bend it i will fix it. i am not thinking of entering it in a wax on wax off show. If i had the space a donor car would be the ideal option as like you say they are so cheap, but cant do it.
Anyone got any ideas about the best way to get the abs sensors out of the back hubs...as i have two axles (4 sensors) and all are stuck :x , cant seem to free any of them off. I have the brakes stripped an both axles and covered them in WD40 or equivalent (there are other lubricants out there) but no joy :x . is heat the answer.....the only thing is with keeping cost down (i have two sets of sensors both good) i dont want to damage them.
Am i fighting a losing battle here, and just bite the bullet and buy new sensors and smash the others out.

Ooh.. nasty case of armco rash you got there...
I did my first few trackdays at a place called Blyton Park in Lincs. its an old airfield with nowt but corn fields to fall off into if (when?) you get it wrong.
Also, for 20-30 quid, tuition is really good value if it saves an incident...

yeah was told about blyton...should have gone there first i think...with me having done a couple (and i mean only 2 which werent my car) track days and also owning lots of fast fords and other makes i have a bit of experience. but hey ho, life is a learning curve for all.

bent cars can be fixed and race on!!!! hopefully lol

Blyton is excellent for learners, nothing to hit but it kills you brakes

I would seriously think about ditching the ABS altogether, we ditched it on both our track cars, it means you are in control of the braking, you can strip out a lot of weight and you will get rid of the restrictive traction control too as a bonus

Hi noobrider.
My ABS has never worked, and im not about to fix it.
But...
Ive spun out under hard braking a couple of times. Is the rear end overbraked untill the abs calms it down?

I have an early master cylinder (with bias valves on it) which Im thinking about fitting to get rid of the pump altogether and hopefully balance the brakes.
How have you got on with your cars?
