Hello and greetings from finland! This is my first post to this forum. I bought my -00 Puma in the summer and I love it.

I am starting to upgrade ICE in my car and was about to order speakers, when i bumped into problem. I couldn't found the diameter in the car stock speaker places. So have anyone measured it? I prefer not to use the speaker adaptors because of my tight budget. I would love to use that 20 euros to the sound quality.

I wonder if that speaker would fit straight to the stock speaker holes?

No, it won't. You need to enlarge the hole for it. I have my doubts about the depth of that speaker. You are looking at 63-64 mm max.
Have a look here http://www.projectpuma.com/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=21157" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. The DLS UP6 I used have depth of 64 mm and when the back was treated with 2 mm STP it just touched it

I'm not concerned about the depth of the kicker speaker. I've done more research and found out that JL Audio TR600-CXI, which should fit straight in the holes, is actually bigger in every way than kicker, so i think I will take a risk with this one. I will let u know how this one ended. I will try to stay away from my dremel but if I need to...

Just remember that behind the speeker there is a backing plate, and behind that there is the window... :)

must be different speaker sizes installed on various years as my thunder had OE ford speakers that were 6" so fitted infinity 6532i which are 16.5cms with no modifications at all and do not touch the door card either so happy days

I have Rainbow SL-C6.2 speakers, which are 6.5" and 65mm depth. There is about 2mm space behind the speaker. I had put STP behind the speaker (to the ring where screws go) so that speaker's magnet wouldn't touch metal. I also had to use tin snips to make the hole bigger.

personally I would have simply chose a speaker they did not mean butchering the door

I had them on my old car but I took then out from there so I thought that why buy new ones to Puma when I already have good quality speakers which sound superb :D

Hi all. I too am looking at changing the speakers and want some that go straight in without having to drill new holes or use a mounting bracket. Am looking at the JL TR600 which seem a perfect fit as el dude has said.
But just want to double check that these will indeed go straight in with no mods.
Cheers :D

I'd trust Chris's advice on that but can't comment further as I haven't tried it

I fitted these: http://edgecaraudio.com/project/edge-6-coaxial-speaker/

into the front without any mods to the hole. I even soundproofed behind the speaker with silent coat and some acoustic foam.
