Went to my local Ford dealership today for what i thought was gonna be a very expensive spare key cutting.
I ended up buying a Horseshoe key, (ive got the fob to attatch to it from ebay), supplied with blade cut to my car's locks, for £3.62
Blanks off ebay cost more than that!
Put the key in the ignition,it turned etc..... but wouldnt come out of the lock
After messing with the oil and pliers etc they ended up pushing the car into the garage, after taking the ignition barrel out etc they finally got the key out,but then it kept sticking when they put it back in.
after just under 2 hours work, and replacing part of the barrel with another they had laying about in the workshop it was sorted.
Luckily i wasnt charged for anything more than the £3.62 for the key itself.
They said this is common when having a new key cut because of the flap on the ignition barrel gets bent to the same shape as the older worn key, so be warned if you get a key cut elsewhere. Cant imagine Timpsons etc would attempt to free a stuck key.
Never thought id say this about a Ford dealership, but the price was excellent and they were very helpful at sorting it out.
So how did i respond to their generosity and help after a near 2 hour struggle getting my key out?......
