Hello guys,

I have 1999 Puma 1.7, and i can't make my handbrake lock wheels to make more fun driving my car. When i bought it, it didn't hold at all, after they changed some kind of wire and it was better(it could stand on hill) but i cant make it lock.

Do you have the same problem, or this is common for Pumas?

Does the handbrake lift quite far?

Maybe you need to have the rear brakes looked at, shoes might need replacing or cylinders might be leaking.

Can't say as i've used my handbrake for fun though, generally just to keep the car still whilst stationary.

I know I can't push it with the handbrake on so I assume it's 'locking' the wheels all right.

You want to do this 1st manouvre?

The police would have us here if we did that too often.

Must admit to pulling a few handbrake turns when its snowy. I remember when i had my Ka doing them in the car park of my old hotel with my mate in his focus for about 20 mins. Was so good, eventually security came and we had to scoot off. Very irrisponsible me!

yes, lads, the third would be the best;)

ok, i'll try to check th wheels

A little flick with the handbrake is somethong best practised is a big open space, and a lot of fun when you get it right.

Or when you are absolutely fuming about something.
Last month I did my first handbrake turn ever in 14 years of driving when i was VERY angry and had to turn around.
I did it perfect!

I used to try and carry out handbrake turns when I was first driving, I didn't really care much for my first car so wasn't too bothered then, but I don't think I could do it to my beloved Puma!
