I am in the process of changing springs. I've removed all necessary bolts but I can't get the strut out of the hub carrier. It seems to be rusted in so I've sprayed some penetrating oil and left it for a while but it hasn't helped. Has anyone got any suggestions?

Put the top mount/nut etc back on then belt the carrier downwards to release, drastic and brutal but works.

You can also try driving a wedge or large flat blade screwdriver into the split behind where the bolt goes through. Brute force is the only real option as stated above.

Your not putting new springs on those shocks are you?
Yeah just for now, just to see how they go. I know they don't look too good, I've had the grinder to the shocks to get the crusty layer of rust off. Got the cheapy FK springs, 48 quid delivered from the manufacturer in Germany. Not expecting much from them but thought they were worth a shot at that price!
