magazine i get just did this.....

buy an old mobile phone & car charger off ebay etc & a cheap pay as you go sim.

wire it into car / hide it but somewhere it gets a signal

if car goes missing you type the phone number into a phone tracking software on t'internet....
think the one they used one that cost £12 for 10 'tracks'. people use them to see where there kids are etc!

uses phone masts to track.....pretty good in towns, bit vague in countryside but they actually found there own car in the town! didnt in the countryside but at least youd be able to tell the police to within a mile or two....

might do this....

I think google do this as long as the phone you're tracking gives permission. :eek:k:

Trackstar is just another one of the Thatham Q rated stolen vehicle tracking systems.

Do any of these mobile phone tracking companies offer real time tracking??? Thats what you realistically need to retrieve it yourself.

And also can the mobile be linked to your alarm to text you on alarm activation??

You have to remember something like an FRP is likely to be stolen for parts or attempted re-id'd as another car (although ed has a pretty good handle on a cars database so it would take a bit of research by a thief to find a unknown car to use the id from.).

When they rob cars for parts they usually either strip them straight away within hours, or hide them in a lock up somewhere, so time is of the essence really.
