Sorry couldn't resist.

As much as I love the standard one the Puma has, I'm finding it difficult to drive with as my grip isn't very good at times. So, what I'm looking to do is replace it with a decent leather/aluminium one - but I don't want one of the cheap ones you can get from the market 'cause I don't think they look too good (eg, I want avoid ones like these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BLACK-LEATHER-GEAR-KNOB-FORD-Ka-Fiesta-Escort-Focus-RS-/170656995106?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item27bbf31722" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).

What I've seen on ebay are a few Fiesta Mk6 gear knobs, and wondered if any one knew if the fitment would be the same. I know the puma screws on and off, not sure on the MK6 fiesta or if the 'shaft' is the same diameter.

Seen a good condition one on ebay for £20 ish but seems a bit of a long shot without getting opinions first!

Cheers all!

Haha, seen a few modifications already!

This is more for medical reasons - I'm fine gripping larger items, but find the roundedness of the standard Puma one a little difficult to grip hold of

Familiar with the Richbrook ones - but they're still too round to grip onto. The idea behind the fiesta one is that it alters the way (or the way I do anyway) you hold onto it whilst the leather provides a bit of grip...

Now I just sound like a seedy movie haha

The MK6 gear knob is a screw fit as per the Puma but I can't confirm whether the thread diameter/pitch/height is the same.

Thanks,
I'm wondering whether I can take a trip to the scrappy and pick one up cheaper than on ebay. Gonna have to wait until pay day though now - My other car's taken a hit to the windscreen so pretty sure it needs replacing :(

Right, an eventful couple of days. Puma packed up yesterday - turns out the heat from yesterday somehow drained the life from the battery. So that needs replacing because I'm sure it's still running the original battery...

Anyway - I've gone ahead with this now. The one I posted earlier from eBay isn't the one I went for in the end. I did some skirting and found the Focus gear knob was similar to the Fiesta MK6 gear knob (if not identical) so searched on that instead. In the end I won this beauty: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120739515772&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

So it arrived today and luckily enough the thread is exactly the same! So for me, this is brilliant because I feel more in control of my knob *snigger* so I'm now less likely to miss gears (as I had been doing) and less likely to lose grip of it. I've attached a piccy at the bottom for those interested. I don't think it looks out of place either.

Every now and again Innocent Smoothies put knitted hats on their fruity concoctions - I wonder if that would fit over your knob to keep it warm in the chilly winter months.

October/November is the next round, I believe:

(not that I condone the purchase of Innocent drinks after they sold out to Coca Cola)

Do you have to knit them yourself???. Haven't knitted anything for a very long time and yes, I can knit and I don't want any sarcastic comments.....pmsl
Are you thinking about knitting some hats to go on Innocent Smoothies bottles or knobs, or both?

I have no experience with knitting knob warmer hats, nor do I fancy googling on that topic!

As for smoothie hats - Innocent Smoothies have a hat knitting guide:
http://www.innocentdrinks.co.uk/bigknit/Big_Knit_pattern_guide.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I think the deal is they get people to knit hats and send them in, they put them on their bottles and donate money to charity for each hat they receive.

Almost a praiseworthy effort on Innocent's part until you remember that a proportion of their profits goes to Coca Cola, so their smoothies are actually made out of 58% third world babies, not 100% delicious fresh fruit.

And here's why you shouldn't give money to Coca Cola or its subsidiaries:

I find the warming of the knob by holding it on those colder days is quite satisfying, although when it snowed i put an actual sock on my knob.

That sounds so wrong...
