has anyone owned a Fiat Coupe before i love the way they look almost as much as the Puma i remember having it in my top trumps set as a kid haha im thinging of getting one and running it as a second/weekend car there are still some very nice examples around in blue & yellow i was just wondering if anyone else has owned one and what they are like too drive and maintain?

Not owned one, but have driven a 20v turbo- very quick.

All i know is the cambelt change is a engine out job to eb able to do it.

Think Spit might have one if he is still on here>?

EDIT- http://www.projectpuma.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=9352" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

There ya go PM him

thanks scotty i had heard about the cam belts so keeping my eyes open for an already done but obviously ill have to pay a bit more theres a good one on piston heads with low mileage 43k but it need doing :S

I think Fiat will take the lump out as labour costs will be high. If you can find a Fiat specialist they will do it cheaper. He's mate is a Fiat specialist and I think he done it for about £300 without taking it out. There was also an article about it in a old Car Mechanics magazine. My brother-in-law has one and it is really good. There is a good forum on them, I'll ask him what it's called. Only go for the 20v or the 20v turbo though as the 16v is supposed to be a heap of shit.

Also, make sure that it comes with 1 red and 2 blue keys. The red is master key, if you don't have this and something goes wrong e.g. you change the battery you may have to get the ECU reprogrammed.

Yeah im deffo only going for the 20V Turbo as itll be a secomd lightly used car and i want the full works, and i really appriciate the advice on the keys i had no idea about that thanks :)

I had a 20 valve turbo for 3 years, fantastic engine just driving the wrong wheels!!! I had it from new and loved it in a straight line but it was woeful around corners and went through front tyres every 6-8000 miles, P zeros so not cheap.
In fairness fuel consumption was not bad but they are known for very high oil consumption when the mileage racks up.I got rid of mine at 78000 miles and it was using around a pint of oil every 600 miles.
I loved the interior especially the dash and the instruments. The cambelts can be done without removing the engine and a specialist should be able to do them for about £250-£300.
The turbo could be one source of the high oil consumption and these are extremely expensive to replace.
Bearing all the above in mind I would still consider one with low mileage full service history.
However I currently drive a Nissan 200sx and it beats the Fiat hands down in nearly all directions except looks and the glorious howl of the 5 cylinder,and I would not swop it for the Fiat.
Good luck with your search there are plenty out there so take your time and have fun
