Missing led/bulb on new key fob.

I recently purchased a brand new, (pristine), 2 button key fob.

However, when I look at it from the blade end on, the new fob does not have the led/bulb that my existing fob does.

Can anyone tell me if this led/bulb is needed or does the fob work whether it's there or not?

(Obviously I am not in a position at the moment to just try it and see).

well it's an IR emitter... so you should have it... otherwise it won't work...

there are 2 double button setups... IR... which has a bulb, and RF... which doesn't but it's rounded
