Maybe try and swap the wires round which go to the actual temp sensor...?

Nope tried that exactly same,, it was fully working when removed from yesterday

I had the correct connector, complete with short lengths of wire, so I cut off the old connector and connected the new one as follows:
Car wire Orange/Yellow to connector Orange/Yellow.
Car wire Black to connector Black.
Car wire Black/Orange to connector Black/Orange.
Car wire Blue to connector Purple/Yellow.
Leave White connector wire disconnected.
White/Black and Brown/Yellow connector wires go to the 2 sensor wires. I don't think it mattered which way round (but easy to swop).
I seem to remember (but might be wrong!), to save connecting the 4 existing wires via the new connector wires, you may be able to take both connectors apart and fit the existing wires directly to the new connector.
