Wasnt sure what to call this thread, lol.

Anyways where the induction kit is, it is getting covered in muck from the wheel kicking it up from the wheel arch. What would you reccomend to put around the induction kit to keep it dirt free?

I was thinking of buying some cheap mud flaps from halfords and just trying to cut it too a shape that would fit around the bottom of the induction kit, this probly isnt the best way but i think it would work

Also what do you guys clean your induction kits with, i was thinking of just vacuming off the main bits! Its a KnN if that makes any difference in cleaning procedures

thanks for your time

Mike

I thought the K & N ones were oiled?

You'll not want to block off a path of air completely (as well as mud unfortunately) or else the engine might be starved of air a bit. That's why the FRP airbox works well as it points towards the front grille.

Some fine meshing perhaps? or a baffle - one crossed over the other so air can get through, but mud can't pass?

US site, but same stuff :eek:k:

I think most people leave the bottom of the standard air filter box in place for that very reason :) Or you could end up a bit of 22 gauge aluminium or mould one from carbon fibre :)

You can get universal alloy heat shields for cone filters, about £10-£15 from most places online. That'll do the job! I have one on my K&N to help prevent heatsoak.

does anyone know if this heat shield will fit around a K&N induction kit? I cant seem to find any others on the net, maybe im just searching wrong :derr:

It probably will and I also found the link for the one posted above:

I think both would work. For the price it can't harm to give it a shot.

Cool let us know how it goes.. i'd probably get it from demon tweaks as its a bit more reputable!

You want it turning up after all lol

lol. yeah. on demon tweek ones there is 3 different sizes so il have to measure how fat mine is :pinkeye:

err i believe it fits before the filter so no extra fittings required you just take off the cone, slot it on and put the cone back in place.

Of course I could be talking bollocks but this would be my understanding :)

Yes it will, I have the Green one on my 57i cone filter. 8)

They're all basically a rectangle of aluminium with 3 or 4 tabs/flanges that slide under the giant jubilee clip around your cone filter.

Honestly, looking at those options on Tweeks site... none of them!

When I bought it, I ordered it from their 2006 catalogue and there was only one size available... none of those sizes seems anywhere near correct!

I will go measure mine in a short while and see what's what.

Okay, measured it at 120mm x 200 mm...!

120mm covers the "depth" of the cone, if you get me, and the 200mm is the length which goes halfway round the cone

Dunno what Tweeks sizes are, but then tbh I never order off their website, only through the catalogue & phone.

In fact, sack Tweeks and get it from ESP!

Job done!
