How do!

New member here! Just finished putting my puma back together and stumbled across the forum. I have a standard 1.7, just completed a full respray in white as I wanted to do something a little different.

Will be lowered on 17" black wheels and to design my own throttle body system for it. Plugging it into IDS everything seems tickity boo, so I have a good base.

Being the engineer who was responsible for designing Logic7 into range rover, range rover sport, Disco 3 & Alpine Dolby into the Jaguar XK along with rear seat entertainment, I have a little bit of gear lying around for a bit of an install. Feel like a kid again chavving it up! Great stuff.

The ultimate aim was to cossie it, but its now turned into a road car for a while whilst I finish my Escort Cossie monte carlo off back to concours and begin another escort cossie - full WRC is the plan, but thats a year away after all the shell fabrication & CAD work to design the suspension.

Anway back to the puma, any recommendations on suspension and brake conversions appreciated rather than learning another car. Know the basics about which strut fittings i need, but any brand information would be great. Budget car so budget parts required!

Until I get some photos, heres a pic of my pride and joy!

Lovely looking Cossie.

Think very carefully before going for 17" wheels, IMO they are a bit big for the Puma, also make sure that your new wheels are as close to ET34 as possible.

Regarding brake conversions, I would suggest going for Focus ST170 calipers and discs, or alternatively Mk3 Mondeo / X-Type calipers with ST170 discs.

If you read the Puma Performance Modification Guide there is lots of useful info.

Regarding suspension it really depends if you fancy coilovers or standard type suspension, but generally the more expensive the better, however people have run AP coilovers and seemed happy with them.

thanks for the info. Useful to know about the brakes. they do need changing so worth taking a look and the mod section.

Awesome cossie. Sounds like your really into the proper modification, not just bolt on exhausts and stick on petrol caps  Stick around, would love to see more of this puma, always faniced a white one!

I've got AP coilovers on mine. They are very good and probably the cheapest you'll find new. The puma is very fussy about bigger wheels, but as long as you stay as close to ET34 as possible you should be fine depending on how much its been lowered of course.

Thanks for the welcome. Just got back from my mates bodyshop so a little dark to take some photos. I'll see if I can grab some at work tomorrow although camera's are banned so will have to be sneaky. I must say, it does look cool in white although i need some rims as the propellor rims don't work, and i need to stick it in the weeds so will look up some suspension asap.

Ordered some satin black team dynamics race 1.2 this afternoon. only offset was et42 but at £200, i wasn't too bothered and have a knocked up some spacers on the CAD and have them laser cut next week. Next job is different wheel stud & new nuts.
