From January 2015, DVLA will no longer issue the paper counterpart to the photocard driving licence.

What to do with your paper counterpart from January 2015?
If you don’t think you’ll need it, then you may destroy it. You should not destroy the counterpart before 1 January 2015.

Does make some sense, just hope this online system they're developing to check stuff doesn't cost money.

They've had the phone number for some years now, but premium rate.

Does smell a bit of a way to monetise the check.

how often do people ever use/look at paper part, only time mine comes out was routine license checks at work and trackdays :D

I shredded one once, printed loads of people's details to take to a show and they needed destroying when I got home, forgot I'd put my licence in the same envelope

Stumbled on this the other day, guess it replaces the counterpart
