Flying Scotsman, I've had two Mk3 Fiesta's with the early version of the 1.8 normally aspirated diesel engine. Old, but reliable technology (I was changing the timing belts at 40k), will never set the roads alight with its performance (I know that was not the original aim), but they were cheap to maintain, cheap to run and will now be cheap to buy for your project (should you give it a go)!
