Puma Thunder 51 Plate Moondust Silver - £500

With much regret I have decided to let go of my Puma. After buying it in June and spending the summer tidying it up I find I just don’t have the opportunities to make the most the car’s performance. I’ve found this board invaluable and was one of the reasons I bought a Puma in the first place, so I’ll list it here first before it goes elsewhere.

Mileage is around 103000. The engine is good – starts first time, no smoke and ticks away on idle. The torque from the engine is excellent and it pulls hard from about 2000 to over 6500rpm. The idle valve and throttle body have been thoroughly cleaned and “de-gunked”. I have also given it an oil and filter change.

The rear beam bushes have been changed (many thanks to the “How-to” on this forum) and one of the rear shock absorbers mounts – it didn’t need it but as I had the shocker off I changed it anyway

The front tracking has been set to parallel.

The ride is firm. OK on urban roads but comes into its own when you get out of town.

Interior is good. Black leather seats are comfortable and without any tears. The air-con works as do all the other electrics – windows, mirrors, heated front and rear screens. The radio/CD is a JVC – not original but at least you can plug in your USB stick (possibly mp3 player).

The bodywork is reasonable, not concours but straight and free from any significant dents or scratches.

I changed the dipped beams to Halfords Ultra Brilliance bulbs after scaring myself with my first night drive in the countryside.

2 keys – 1 remote, 1 transponder (both work the ignition and you can make others)

The arches were a bit bubbly and I’ve begun to tackle them. My intention was to grind out the rust, treat it with Kurust, paint and then cover with German arch covers. I’ve started, as you can see from the photos, but not yet attached the covers.

The outside sills had some surface rust but I’ve cleaned them up, Kurusted them and painted with Stoneguard

There’s a full set of documents including service history up to about 67000 showing timing belt change.

MOT until March 2015. The advisories were an oil leak – must have been sorted as I can’t see one and some pitting on the discs – the brakes work fine and the discs look OK to me. In fact they are better than my Escort which didn’t get any advisories on it’s last MOT in September!

I’m located in Ealing, West London and the car can be viewed most any time.

I’m only looking to get back what I paid for it so I think £500 is a reasonable price
