Rewiring fuel pump and colour identification

I'm looking at. 4 wires on same multi plug that go through the car and goto the fuel pump/sender area, they are....
Small black wire beside small white/red stripe
And
Big thick black beside big purple/ orange stripe

My mate is coming round later to rewire into my fiesta mk2./puma engine and loom conversion
What does each colour above do?

Both black wires are earths, red/white wire is for fuel gauge and violet/orange is switched 12 volt feed for the fuel pump.

Hi I am having problems with my fuel gauge on my 1.7 puma so I’m checking the wires on the sender
Can anybody tell me if the red/white wire is a live or and earth?
