Sound deadening

Have removed the sound deadening insulation from the bonnet, as I'm wanting to clean it.
Anyone done this sucessfully? Worried it might lose it's shape once it's dripping wet...

Think I'd be tempted to take the bonnet off, lay it on an old quilt cover and jetwash it instead of removing it. Prop the bonnet up in the sunshine for the day, sorted!

just put a tarp over the engine and power wash it in place?

I cleaned mine then used an autoglym black dye on it afterwards. Wouldn't recommend it, it stains anything that touches it (radiator cap, header tank etc)

I realize lewis was posting this on an old thread for the benefit of anyone that finds it on a search, but is there any reason to not just throw it away? That would be my first instinct.
