Steering Rack / Track Rod Ends

Hi Guys,

Had a little altercation with a kerb and the O/S near wheel today.

Bashed into the kerb doing around 20mph.

Took it round the corner to the garage who reckon the tracking is spot on BUT...

The Steering rack or Track rod end might be bent.

Do the ends come off the steering rack and is it a DIY or a garage job?

Has anyone done this recently or have a "HOW TO GUIDE".

Would realy appreciate some thoughts on this.

dead easy

take the gaitor off, the rod goes into a ball joint which is thicker & aluminium, slap TWO mole grips on it & unscrew! about £20 for a new one.

when you take the track rod end off count how many times you unscrew it, do reverse when putting it on new track rod, tracking will be fine....
